- Place wet or loose items in a paper bag (no plastic or compostable plastic bags are accepted at the composting company we utilize).
- Always place your pizza boxes in the green cart. They are compostable and the grease makes them too dirty for the recycling.
- Layer leaves, branches and lawn clippings with food and other wet items.
- Line your countertop collection pail with newspaper. See some helpful videos below on how you can create a newspaper liner.
- Line the bottom of your cart with newspaper.
- Sprinkle baking soda in your kitchen pail or green cart to reduce smells.
- Store food waste in the freezer until you are ready to take it out the day before your collection.
- Place your green bin at the curb for collection each week, whether it is full or not.
- Rinse your receptacle with vinegar or water on occasion.
- If possible keep your bins out of the sun when not at the curbside
- Keep critters out of your container by securing the lid with clamps or bungee cords.
