Community Outreach Coordinator
This full-time position is responsible for maintaining the contractual compliance with the Town of Windsor and for SB 1383 compliance. This includes outreach to the business community as well as all communication, education and marketing efforts to Town of Windsor residents. To apply please email resume to alissa@sonomacorr.com.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Become familiar with the Commercial Services Agreement (CSA) including all reports, deadlines, performance metrics and requirements
- Become familiar and work with the Town of Windsor for SB 1383 implementation and compliance
- Regularly meet with Windsor businesses to assess services as well as train and educate on best recycling practices
- Prepare an annual outreach plan as required by the CSA
- Conduct recycling workshops and oversee outreach at community events
- Work with all service units for diversion requirements and ensure contractual diversion requirements are met
- Attend Town Council Meetings and other community events, conferences and meetings
- Provide service cost quotes and service information according to franchise contracts
- Communicate in a professional and courteous manner with customers and coworkers either by telephone, electronically or in person
- Write and prepare newsletters and other public facing pieces
- Provide customer service and in-person account management as needed
- Organize workflow to meet deadlines
- Handle calls and appointments with difficult customers in a professional manner
- Keep records of customer interactions and transactions
- Communicate and coordinate with internal departments
- Follow policies, procedures, and guidelines
- Work closely with co-workers in a team environment
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Mobility within an office environment for indefinite periods of time.
- Involves sitting, standing, walking, reading, decision making, reaching above shoulder level, occasional lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds, using both hands for simple and firm grasping, climbing stairs and fine finger manipulation, e.g., keyboard and mobile phone skills.
- Requires clarity of hearing.
- Requires the ability to communicate clearly and effectively both in person, in writing, and by telephone and e-mail.
KEY COMPETENCIES
Knowledge of:
- Microsoft office products including Excel, Word and Outlook programs
- Customer service principles and practices
- Strong experience and understanding of implementing recycling programs and diversion strategies desired
Ability to:
- Analyze situations and adopt an effective course of action. Multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively
- Speak in public at meetings, presentations and trainings
- Become proficient with Soft-Pak, the company’s customer management system
- Learn the geography of the service area including the locations of streets, city/town boundaries, topographical and man-made hazards
- Project manage and adhere to strict deadlines
- Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing in English
- Strong phone contact handling skills and active listening
- Demonstrate attention to detail
- Demonstrate decision making and problem-solving skills
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or G.E.D. certification required
- Bachelor’s degree a plus
- Experience with solid waste and/or sustainability highly desired
- Bilingual in Spanish a plus

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Operate heavy diesel residential and commercial refuse and/or recycling collection trucks and auxiliary flat beds and sweepers as needed
- Willingness to be cross trained and function in all driving jobs as needed
- Conduct daily truck and equipment safety and maintenance checks
- Strictly adhere to SCRR’s equipment, customer, and personnel safety policies
- Adhere to scheduled, as well as modified routing; including helping service other drivers’ routes when necessary
- Willingness to operate and assist as a team member in a small knit group
- Maintain communication and coordination with lead driver and with company dispatchers
- Communicate with customers as necessary to address their concerns
- Assure trucks and equipment are safely and securely stored at the end of the day
- Report malfunctions and repair requirements to mechanic or on a VCR
- Willingness to train new drivers on routes when necessary
- Notify lead driver or office of any incidents, accidents, injuries or property damage.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Valid class B license with insurable incidents on record and at least two years of commercial driving verifiable experience
- Must be able to pass a pre-hire drive test and as well as a DOT drug test
